Team Meetings: Thursdays 2:45 - 4:45 in room 227c
Beechcroft's Vex Robotics team specializes in building robots that can preform various tasks. Every year, Vex Robotics Inc. releases a new competition. The Robotics Team creates a new robot each year specialized for these competitions and attends multiple events throughout the year in preparation of the annual Vex Robotics National Competition hosted by the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) at their annual, national convention.
The Robotics Team cultivates skills essential to developing a properly functioning robot. Members use engineering design processes to develop the robot. Members construct the robot and it's internal mechanisms using aluminum and steel parts, gears, sprockets, motors, wheels, chains, pneumatics, and other parts, as well as utilizing power tools. The Team also programs their robots through a C++ coding environment catered to Vex Robotics, and record the progress made in developing the robot through their engineering notebook.
